Sessions can take place in my home for children younger than 5 or at an outdoor location for older children, groups or pets. Popular locations have included downtown Waterloo or Cedar Falls, the UNI campus, one of the many local parks or the Cedar Valley Botanical Center. Location suggestions are always welcome for your own shoot, or I can suggest a few from which to choose.

Children, group and pet sessions generally take 1-2 hours. I like to give children time to get comfortable with me and the camera before and during the shoot. This often involves allowing time for them to rest, play or explore. In my experience, kids will relax and respond best when given a little freedom to do all three.

For newborn sessions, please contact me during the last trimester to set a tentative date. Newborn sessions typically take 3-4 hours to allow time for your little one to feed, cuddle and fall asleep. Getting them to sleep deep enough to get that perfect pose can take some time. I recommend leaving your day open for this session. Newborns are best photographed within their first 14 days.
